oh, such a good question!! I realized that the more simple the rule, the fewer I can. So, right now, I have a no desserts rule. That is way easier for me to follow than, only desserts on special occasions and rice/bread 2-3x a week. With my no desserts rule (which I do for my pre-diabetes), it's simple and easy to follow. And I eat rice and bread as I need. I'm going to think about this more
I mean, I used to have a "1/2 a chocolate bar at at a time" rule, but since I turned 50 it's become "no less than 2 at a time" because life is short(er). I don't want to be like a friend's grandma who, when asked on her deathbed what she wished she'd done more of, listed every single chocolate bar she could think of. Nope, not gonna be me. Aside from that I've let go of some rules around posting on social media during the past year, and aside from reclaiming my time and energy, it's also helped me focus on the things that actually build my business (relationships and LinkedIn). Also, in the spirit of being GenX, RULES DON'T APPLY
I hear you on the chocolate front -- and deathbed regrets . . . yikes! I've been putting some rules in place around keeping my well being intact, and breaking those I'd created which were more about punishing myself and didn't ultimately work anyway.
Glad to hear you're letting go of rules that were not rendering what you wanted/needed and are prioritizing things that truly build your business. Brava! 👏

I agree with you about simplicity . . . less to keep track of, and easier on our brains!
